Storing my stuff

I still remember my big move to the west coast. There was the usual packing of my stuff. I had rented a moving truck. I didn't have any money to pay professional movers. So this was a move your own stuff type move.

There were no problems getting out of town with my moving truck and my belongings. The issue I encountered was upon arrival. They actually have rules about parking big trucks on the city streets. This was my first problem. I got a bunch of tickets on the moving truck. But that wasn't even the big issue. The big issue in my move was that the storage unit was not open on Sunday's. This was a major problem because the moving truck was due back and I had to be at work the next morning. I asked if I could get the phone number of someone who actually might work that Sunday. And I found someone who would be willing to come in when the storage unit place was not normally open. So, okay, I had to pay him $50. There really were not many options here. The final scare came when nobody was at the storage unit when we arrived with the moving truck. I think he was still asleep, but he came right away when I called. So all ended well with my big move thanks to the storage unit guy who wanted my $50.
