Winter storage ideas

For many many years we have had a sail boat. The thing about boats is that you have to remove and store all your belongings each winter. The most convenient place to store things for us was our basement. I think many people user their garages, but we didn't have one in the city. If you live in an urban area, storing your things is difficult. So after many years of bringing all the stuff back to our basement, we needed a new strategy.

We started to do research on storage units in the area. We found a storage unit not too far away. Based on what I've seen, storage units are really easy to come by now. I think have been building and building them. I guess that the companies in this business have decided that this is a growth market. Anyway, back to my story.

In the end we decided to rent a storage unit that was not too far from the boat. We moved all the stuff from the boat to the storage unit in the car. This took many many trips. What I found was that because we were so close, I actually took more things off the boat and into storage. And actually, that's very good for the stuff you are storing. See, things near the water or in the boat tend to mold. The storage unit was climate controlled, so there was no humiditiy. This had the advantage of keeping things from molding, and they smelled better too.
